Not only dog walking: best summer jobs for teens (part 1)

Teenagers enjoy a summer break. A stressful year of studying is over and they can finally relax. However, the job search for teenagers becomes something that goes without saying. By getting work experience, the youth learns more about responsibility and a caring attitude to money. We all start with weekend jobs, such as dog walking, babysitting, or working as a grocery store cashier. They benefit teenagers by bringing easy money. Moreover, such activities don’t require much time. Yet, if you want to earn more during the summer season and have something worthy for your resume, look at other options.

Tutor

If you’re good at certain subjects, share your knowledge with those who are currently dragging behind. Fluent in French? Great, become a French tutor online. Play violin since childhood? Great, try yourself as a violin tutor for kids.  You don’t even have to go anywhere. Tutoring has become a typical online job.

Keep in mind that teaching is more than repeating things from the textbook. To succeed, show an in-depth understanding of the material. Be ready to answer complicated questions.  Tutoring helps upgrade your own knowledge, master communication and project management skills.

Automotive technician

Do cars fascinate you? Turn your hobby into an interesting summer job. For example, have a look at an automotive teсhnicians’ job description. They maintain and inspect different vehicles. Specialists identify technical issues and fix them. However, you don’t deal only with cars all the time.  Customer service matters as well.  Even assistants have to know how to explain complicated things to clients. Specialist’s key responsibilities include performing maintenance duties. Mastering skills and learning about the latest updates in the car industry is also important.

Customer service representative

Customer service representative is a stressful occupation. Yet, it’s very insightful. People rarely call to thank you, so embrace yourself for long conversations and problem-solving sessions.  Although unpleasant cases of interaction with rude customers is a common practice in this sphere, you’ll learn what true resilience is and how to shoot troubles.

CSR’s duties list is long: you are managing income calls and emails, generating sales leads, communicating in live chat, processing orders, conducting surveys among the customers, and assessing their satisfaction with a product. They also collect opinions about possible improvements. Although not all the tasks seem exciting, picking them up as the first part-time job is a good choice. Customer service representatives are among the most popular positions for hiring all around the world. This is a job a teenager can do at home. So, if you struggle to find something near you, no worries, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Content writer

Although the phrase “content writer” seems self-explanatory, let’s get acquainted with the duties list. Content writers create clear-cut product descriptions. As digital marketing specialists, they present companys’ updates to the public on different platforms. While hiring, companies look for great writing and editing skills. They also need people who understand email marketing and search engine optimization. Content writers follow deadlines and various key performance indicators. The texts should be engaging and knowledgeable. To cut a long story short, great content is an aim. To feel confident in this sphere, you’d better have a degree in marketing. On the other hand, you can apply for an assistant’s position and start diving into the profession.

Social media manager

Have you ever thought about turning your Youtube and Instagram passion into a job? Then social marketing management is for you.  Sure, the difference between posting pictures from the parties in the private account and taking care of the company’s profiles is dramatic. However, if you’re creative and ready to dive into the latest developments in the social media industry, this mission is possible. SMM specialists manage social media channels of companies and organizations.  They produce, develop, and adapt content for different platforms on a day-to-day basis. Social media managers deliver the companies news in a clear and entertaining form. For example, they tell about the product launch, target audience, and organize paid advertisement campaigns. This work also rests on search, metrics, and analysis of the competitors. To introduce different ideas, you have to know your followers as well as possible.

The phrase “turn your hobby into a career, and you won’t need to work a single day of your life” might sound a bit cliche but keep it in mind when choosing the options for the part-time job.  Teen years are the high time to try different options and look for your passions. Stay tuned for other career options!
