Work/life balance

For some colleagues, this may mean working flexibly to fit their work around home or family commitments.

Opportunities don’t need to be structured – part-time, job-shares, there’s no limit. It really can give you the best of both worlds – a career and family life.

The great news is, we're a big business with diverse shift patterns and many business areas which means that we can find something that works for you.

Depending on where you work, flexible working can include:

  • Part-time working
  • Having a fixed shift pattern
  • Working on a set number of days a week
  • Job sharing with a colleague
  • Working from home/remotely as appropriate

We've also partnered with Timewise and signed up to the Retail Pioneers Programme which aims to help retailers maximise the benefits of workplace flexibility.

With the recent development of our office campus in Welwyn Garden City, we've introduced ‘smarter working’ so colleagues can shape their day around their role, the team and the business needs. Whether it means starting work at 8am and finishing at 4pm, working from home occasionally, or another arrangement agreed with their manager.

Environment means a lot in our offices, so we champion the flexible approach with hot desking, ample meeting rooms and informal meeting/breakout spaces. We also have cool outdoor spaces, with ping pong tables and table football. Plus, you'll get a laptop so you can make the most of our flexible working policy.

A happy work environment means happy colleagues and happy customers.

 Health and Wellness

We want to support colleagues towards living healthy lifestyles wherever possible. So, here are just some of the things we do:

  • We champion healthy eating so our colleague restaurants serve healthy dishes that are nourishing and tasty
  • We partner with Nuffield Health to provide a range of services at our Welwyn Garden City campus including an onsite gym and nurse
  • Colleagues recently put on their walking boots for The Great Tesco Walk, in partnership with Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. The walk has seen colleagues take on the legs of the famous Land’s End to John O’Groats route – good exercise and a bit of fun too!
