Job Location – Brighton, UK

Our Brighton business is moving to a new location in 2027. The new site is expected to be located in either Shoreham, Burgess Hill or Horsham and will be within a 15-minute drive of our current site.

L3Harris in Brighton are part of our Release Systems & Antennas division operating in the Aerospace domain. For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon.

What The Role Will Involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• NDT Inspection of precision components from in-house manufacture/assembly, sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Update and maintain paperwork associated with NDT inspection procedures.
• Maintain all NDT equipment and carryout required checks in accordance with the procedure.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers when required.
• Inspection of precision components from in-house manufacture/assembly and goods-in from suppliers.
• Update and maintain paperwork associated with inspection procedures.

What You’ll Bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

• Prior related Mechanical Inspection experience
• Experience in MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) & LPI (Liquid Penetrant Inspection) flaw detection equipment
• Good understanding of NDT inspection techniques
• Ability to write NDT techniques
• Manufacturing experience (mechanical)
• Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2001 and ideally AS9100 Rec D
• Attention to detail essential with good PC skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload appropriately.
• Methodical approach to their work.
• Understand and interpret Geometric Engineering Drawings
• Experience in using Precision Measuring Equipment
• Good understanding of Mechanical Inspection Techniques
• Complete defect investigation reports (DIR’s)

Education / Training / Qualifications

• Level 2: – Non- Destructive testing - Magnetic Particle testing of Aerospace Products (current and in date) PCN Certified or BS EN 4179: 2009
• Level 2: – Non- Destructive testing - Liquid Penetrant testing of Aerospace Products (current and in date) PCN Certified or BS EN 4179: 2009
• Mechanical Engineering Qualification
