Background
To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within an established research programme and/or specific research project.
Role Summary
The postholder will undertake research within the Horizon TRACE project, contributing to both work package delivery and wider consortium-level collaboration, synthesis, and stakeholder engagement.
Main Duties
- Monitor assigned tasks, milestones, and outputs in line with the Work Package Leads ensuring timely and high-quality contribution to project deliverables.
- Actively collaborate with researchers across other work packages to support shared methods, synthesis, and comparative analysis
- Participate in TRACE governance and coordination structures, including consortium meetings, work package meetings, and relevant thematic groups
- Contribute to the Research Fellow Coordination Network along with the project’s PI and other cross-consortium forums as appropriate
- Provide timely updates on progress, risks, and dependencies to the Work Package Lead and project management team
- Support stakeholder engagement activities with the PI and project management team
- Assist work package leads with ensuring full compliance with TRACE requirements on ethics, safeguarding, and data protection, embedding these as core elements of research delivery
- Analyse and interpret data
- Apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding
- Contribute to internal reporting processes, including updates for project monitoring, funder reporting, and deliverable tracking
- Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
- Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
- Provide guidance, as required, to support staff and any students who may be assisting with the research
- Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
- Fosters a fair and equitable workplace for all staff
- Identify and respond to equality and diversity issues in line with relevant university policies and procedures

Person Specification
- A PhD relevant to the research area (or near completion), or equivalent PhD level qualifications.
- High level analytical capability
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones
- Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
- Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
- Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project
- Co-ordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort
- Knowledge of the protected characteristics and duties under the Equality Act 2010. Including fostering good relations and advancing the universities Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED)
