Expert R&D Scientist - Chromatography Materials

Agilent seeks an Expert-level R&D Scientist in Church Stretton to lead innovation in polymeric and silica particle technologies for chromatography and biopharma applications. The role involves designing advanced materials, directing major R&D projects, and shaping long-term technology strategy across the Chemistries and Supplies Division.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovations and serve as technical lead across chromatography, diagnostics, and biopharma consumables
• Independently design and execute polymer synthesis, particle manufacture, and surface functionalization projects
• Lead technology transfer from R&D prototypes to full-scale manufacturing with focus on reproducibility and cost-effectiveness
• Mentor R&D team members and strengthen scientific capability across the organization
• Influence long-term technology roadmaps and generate intellectual property through patent applications

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years experience in polymer/organic synthesis, particle manufacturing, and materials characterization
• Working knowledge of chromatography and biopharma applications
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver innovative solutions
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical efforts and developing technology strategies
• Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts to business stakeholders
