As a Special School Nurse (Band 5), you'll be part of a dedicated team supporting children and young people with special needs in schools. Your work will focus on promoting health and well-being, collaborating with families, school staff, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure every child receives holistic care and can reach their full potential. You'll contribute to safeguarding, infection control, and quality improvement, and help shape care plans and service delivery in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. You will be a RN (Child) or we also invite applications from RN (Learning Disability) candidates who have had previous experience with children with complex health needs. This role is part of an integrated special school nursing team across Shropshire and Telford and there may be times when staff need to work flexibly across our school sites. Hours worked 08:30 - 16:30 Monday to Friday with some flexibility to support after school visits as and when required. Annual leave is be taken during the school holidays to ensure schools are covered during term time. As a wider integrated community children's nursing team we provide 24 hour end of life care, and support any staff who wish to participate in this on-call roster. Main duties of the job

- To have responsibility for a delegated workload as agreed with the Team Leader and senior nurse
- To work in partnership and demonstrate excellence in communication with School staff, professional teams, parents, carers and children.
- To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for children & young people in school as appropriate to their individual needs under supervision of a senior nurse.
- To provide training and supervision to support workers in the school environment delivering care to Children ensuring delegated nursing tasks are safely and effectively undertaken.
