Caseworker (Full-Time)

Iqbal Mohamed MP is looking for an experienced, motivated & compassionate team player to join his constituency team as a Caseworker to work 40hrs/week Mon-Fri from the office in Batley.

Key Responsibilities

• Put constituents first & provide support with empathy, compassion & dedication.
• Manage a high volume of constituent enquiries via phone, email, post, social media & in person, including complex casework.
• Research & draft responses to constituents & external organisations within agreed deadlines.
• Work to resolve constituent issues where practicably possible.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with data protection legislation.
• Gather information, monitor progress & ensure timely resolution of cases.
• Support the MP at surgeries, local visits & community engagement events.
• Work flexibly, including occasional travel & out-of-hours duties, & provide support across constituency & Westminster offices as required.

Person Specification

Essential
• Experience in public service, casework or a related field, including working with vulnerable people.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills with a professional, empathetic & approachable manner.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities & deadlines.
• Ability to analyse complex information, identify key issues & manage a varied caseload independently.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams, Canva & Sharepoint
• Ability to work effectively in a small, fast-paced close-knit team.
• Sympathy with & understanding of the values & principles of the Independent Alliance.

Desirable
• Knowledge of local support services & advice organisations.
• Experience using casework management software.
• Understanding of the role of an MP, local & central government, & the voluntary sector.
