About the Opportunity

ACS Staffing Solutions is recruiting on behalf of an established and successful business in Northamptonshire for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong purchase ledger background who enjoys a varied role combining day-to-day finance responsibilities with wider administrative and stock-related activities.

Working closely with the Finance Director and colleagues across the business, you will take ownership of the purchase ledger function while supporting the smooth running of financial and operational processes. This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and confident working independently in a busy business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and manage monthly supplier payment runs.
• Reconcile credit card transactions and associated invoices.
• Review delivery documentation and assist with stock administration.
• Check import documentation, investigate discrepancies and resolve any issues.
• Build effective working relationships with suppliers, warehouse colleagues and internal departments.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Support business improvement projects and contribute to general administrative duties as required.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Assistant role.
• A solid understanding of finance processes and purchase ledger procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using accounting software.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• A practical, problem-solving approach with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to support other departments when needed.
• The ability to manage responsibilities independently while working effectively as part of a team.
