CNC Multi-Tasking Lathe Operator

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Multi-Tasking Lathe Operator to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality components from raw bar stock, supporting internal assembly flow lines and ensuring production targets are achieved safely, accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC multi-tasking lathes to produce small to medium-sized batches efficiently and accurately.
  • Manufacture components from raw material in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.
  • Complete first-off inspections using engineering drawings and appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Carry out in-process quality inspections and complete all required quality documentation.
  • Identify and report quality defects or issues to the CNC Setter or Supervisor.
  • Ensure machine oils, lubricants and coolants are maintained at optimum levels.
  • Change swarf bins and assist with machine sump-outs and cleaning when required.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly machine maintenance checks.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the working area.
  • Report machine faults, maintenance issues or other concerns promptly to supervision.
  • Carry out deburring, cleaning and final inspection of finished components.
  • Complete all relevant traceability and production documentation.
  • Follow company work instructions, quality procedures and health & safety requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of colleagues and others who may be affected by your work.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ensure company Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Correctly use all personal protective equipment and safety equipment provided.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience operating CNC lathes or multi-tasking CNC machinery.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Experience carrying out quality inspections using measuring equipment.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to production deadlines.
  • A positive attitude towards housekeeping, maintenance and health & safety.
  • The ability to work independently while also being part of a wider production team.
