Dispatcher Primary Care Out Of Hours Service (GMED)
Grampian Medical Emergency Department (GMED) provides urgent care outside normal GP hours across the Grampian region, supporting a population of approximately 640,000. We are currently seeking two parttime Dispatchers to join our dynamic and responsive team.
As a Dispatcher, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of GMED’s urgent care services. You will support clinical and support teams by coordinating home visits, managing rotas, handling sensitive information, and maintaining accurate records across multiple systems. This is a vital role that helps ensure patients receive timely care when they need it most.
This post is exclusively nightshift work, with fixed hours of 23:4508:00.
There are various hours available across a 4week rota, and we are recruiting two parttime staff to cover these hours. We are looking for reliable, flexible individuals who are comfortable working in a busy, fastpaced overnight environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating and dispatching clinical resources across the GMED service
- Managing rotas and supporting operational cover
- Communicating with clinicians, drivers, and external partners
- Handling sensitive information and maintaining accurate records
- Using multiple IT systems to support service delivery
- Supporting the wider team to ensure efficient and effective patient care
Key Requirements
- Demonstrable experience working in an administrative role, using established office systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office and other administrative applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a highpressure environment
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take initiative
- Previous experience of call handling
Additional Information
Please note that the service operates MonFri 18:0008:00 and Sat & Sun 24 hours, including during public holidays and festive periods.
