The role…
Our QAs play an essential role here at Pure Pet Food. Each day 1000’s of individual customer orders are produced, picked and packed ready for daily distribution. All from our dry and non-refrigerated factory site located in Cleckheaton (BD19), and our fulfilment centre in Bradford (BD5). Maintaining our high levels of customer service is essential and our QA’s ability to assure the expected level of food safety, quality, legality and health & safety is maintained across the factory goes a long way in achieving this.
The role we be based around Food Safety, Quality and Legality + H&S with additional compliance responsibilities. Under the direction of the Head of Compliance, you’ll be supporting the day-to-day activities of the company’s compliance department and developing the production team in terms of quality assurance, food safety and hygiene.
Duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- Maintain the company’s Quality Management System and ensure compliance with SALSA and relevant food safety standards. Conduct internal audits covering GMP, hygiene, CCPs, glass/plastic and other quality systems, reporting findings and non-conformances.
- Work closely with Shift Managers and Team Leaders to identify product and process issues and implement effective solutions.
- Monitor the quality of raw materials, packaging and finished products, carrying out relevant quality and organoleptic checks.
- Ensure production records are completed accurately and in real time, with Critical Control Points (CCPs) consistently monitored and maintained.
- Carry out environmental monitoring, sampling and quality assurance testing as required.
- Investigate defects, customer complaints and non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor quarantined products and ensure appropriate controls are maintained both physically and within the system.
- Review hygiene, housekeeping and operational practices, promoting a strong “Clean as You Go” culture.
- Inspect production areas, machinery and processes to ensure quality, food safety and operational standards are maintained.
- Support external audits, pest control activities and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Support the training and induction of employees on quality, food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Communicate effectively with Operations, Management and other departments to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Health & Safety is prioritised, promptly escalating concerns and supporting near-miss reporting.
- Demonstrate a positive, proactive “can-do” attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.

It’s essential that you have:
- Experience within a food production environment
- Food safety and/or HACCP qualification
- Full UK driving licence (there is a requirement to visit our other sites adhoc)
It would be great if:
- You have experience within a manufacturing role completing quality assurance / quality control tasks.
