Community Nursing Deputy Team Lead

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic professional to join our dynamic District Nursing Service as a Community Nursing Deputy Team, to work alongside the team lead to provide leadership and day to day management of the Community Nursing Team. We have vacancies in Blyth, Brockwell, and Hexham, alongside other potential opportunities across Northumberland and North Tyneside.

As a deputy team lead the post holder will establish and maintain robust communication networks with patients, carers, team members, GPs and other professionals and agencies. You will act as a role model for the Community Nursing service, our patients and families exercising accountability for patient care in line the NMC code of professional conduct.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating packages of care for patients on their caseload, delegating appropriately providing and leadership to inspire and motivate others to high performance by agreeing clear goals and objectives, providing support and guidance and creating opportunities for development.

There is strong commitment to provide excellent leadership through mentorship, coaching and development for all grades of staff, to provide high quality patient care in line with Northumbria Healthcare Trusts Vision. Team Leads take responsibility for the management and supervision of the Community Nurse Teams.

Job responsibilities
The deputy team lead is responsible for the planning and delivery of the District Nursing services within a designated area, prioritising clinical need to provide holistic care, maintaining accountability for their own practice while working without direct supervision.

The post holder will lead a team of Community Nurses, responsible for the day to day management of the District Nursing Team alongside the team lead, maintaining effective management and clinical supervision frameworks for all staff, with the responsibility of carrying out professional development reviews in line with Trust policy.

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent level of experience or knowledge

Desirable
  • District Nursing Practitioner qualification or Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) & Advanced Clinical Skills
Experience and knowledge

Essential
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving license and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
