Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join the team at Barnet Hospital in London . This is a flexible opportunity offering both full-time and part-time hours, with an immediate start available.

The successful candidate will work across Respiratory, Surgery and ICU , with additional support provided to other inpatient teams including medical wards, elderly care, emergency department, and acute stroke wards as required.

This role is well suited to a therapist with strong acute experience who is confident managing complex adult caseloads within a fast-paced NHS hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Assess, diagnose and manage adults with complex speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties within acute care settings.

• Provide specialist input across Respiratory, Surgery and Intensive Care Units.

• Support additional inpatient teams including medical, elderly care, emergency department and stroke wards as required.

• Deliver evidence-based intervention plans tailored to individual patient needs.

• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support safe discharge planning and patient recovery.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC and NHS standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

• HCPC registration.

• Experience working with adults in acute care settings.

• Band 7 level clinical experience within adult acute services.

• Relevant CPD and post-graduate training.

• NHS experience (desirable).

• Excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills.
