Technical Architect wanted to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of E-Commerce Solution for a leading manufacturer. The role requires deep expertise in Salesforce Commerce Cloud, server-side technologies, microservices architecture, APIs, databases, and cloud-native solutions.

The opportunity

You will be responsible for translating the solution design into detailed technical designs using a wide range of technologies from Salesforce Commerce Cloud, through to client-specific cloud solutions and event architecture. You’ll develop relationships with key client-side stakeholder’s while also working closely with our internal delivery teams to ensure your architecture vision is realised.

This is not a role for someone who doesn't also love development. Whilst we have a team of engineers, you should be from a hands-on development background yet still hold the ability to read and peer-review the code of others. You need to be a great communicator: the role will include direct interaction with our clients, who include both technical and non-technical colleagues.  

What you’ll be doing

• Create complex technical solutions spanning multiple domains  
• Lead architectural decisions with significant organisational impact  
• Resolve complex technical challenges requiring specialist expertise  
• Drive technical debt remediation strategies  
• Create automated delivery pipelines across platforms  
• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for enterprise applications  
• Ensure your architecture vision is realised by our delivery teams, across all phases of programme delivery  
• Make and justify key architectural decisions considering all relevant constraints  
• Follow the principles and guidance set out by the Solution Architecture team  

What we want from you

• Expert understanding of Salesforce Commerce Cloud  
• Strong knowledge of application, integration, data, and infrastructure architecture  
• Advanced understanding of cloud platforms and serverless architectures  
• Proficiency in distributed systems design and microservices patterns  
• Experience with multiple technology stacks and integration patterns  
• Strong understanding of NFRs and performance optimisation  
• Expertise in CI/CD implementation and environment strategies  
• Ability to manage technical debt and quality assurance  
• Strong grasp of enterprise integration patterns and distributed transactions  
• Expertise in technical risk management and mitigation strategies  
• Proven experience of designing and delivering an eCommerce solution with Salesforce Commerce Cloud  
• Deep understanding of engineering practices and technical excellence  
• Be client and delivery focussed, able to adapt a solution to meet additional requirements and constraints and apply pragmatism when required  
• Prior experience running design workshops  
• Strong stakeholder management skills  
• Have excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills  

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming platforms
• Knowledge of caching strategies.  
• Ability to work cross-functionally
• C4 Model for Software Architecture  
• The application of AI (in the context of model abilities and use cases) 
• Headless architectures, and how these interact with the BE
