This Forensic Modern Matron is post is a high profile, accessible and responsive leader with managerial responsibility for nursing service delivery and advice across several teams/wards within a care group. Working as a nursing lead within the care group, demonstrating and developing collaborative working within and across the MDT. The Matron's role is to empower others to strive for continuous evidenced based improvements and to motivate staff to always deliver the highest quality care to all who access our services. make informed decisions within their own specialty and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met. be responsible for delivering the goals as espoused within the Matron's Charter (2019) take a proactive as well as reactive stance on cleaning standards and infection control. lead in developing digital and data capabilities for patient benefits through supporting staff to use information and technology. Identify and address practice development needs with the Associate Director of Nursing Monitor standards of care and support service development Actively contribute to clinical governance, including quality improvement, effective audit programmes, training and research Main duties of the job
Within Forensic inpatient setting it is vital that the below duties are adhered to on a daily basis;
To visit and be present on wards and departments within areas of responsibility daily and to be accessible to staff via face to face or other forms of communication, ensuring time is provided to staff to discuss concerns, inequalities or clinical issues that may affect clinical effectiveness.
To ensure inclusive leadership, advancing equality and tackling inequalities that could thwart opportunities for all.
Lead the team, embedding local and national standards to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality, effective and compassionate care by collaboratively working and overseeing clinical staff and the wider MDT.
Understand and participate in National and Regional initiatives and keep up to date with the national agenda such as the CNO's strategy, which includes raising the profile of nursing and speaking with one voice.
To act as an advocate on behalf of all patients, staff and carers, focusing upon health inequalities within expert area to ensure all patients and carers are involved in their care and decisions about their care respecting their diverse needs and working to reduce any inequalities About us
