Design Technology Teacher

£150 - £220 per day

Protocol Education is working with a welcoming secondary school in Shrewsbury that's looking for a Design and Technology Teacher to join its established and supportive department from September.

Whether you're an experienced DT Teacher looking for a fresh challenge or an Early Career Teacher ready to kick-start your career, this is a school where you'll be encouraged to grow, share ideas, and develop your practice with confidence.

The school has built a reputation for creating a positive environment where both students and staff are supported to do their best work. Collaboration sits at the heart of the department, with teachers working closely together to share resources, celebrate successes, and bring creative ideas into the classroom.

You'll have the opportunity to teach a broad and engaging curriculum, helping students develop practical skills, creative thinking, and the confidence to turn ideas into reality. From designing and making to problem-solving and innovation, you'll play a key role in bringing learning to life.

The Role

• Teaching Design and Technology across KS3 and KS4

• Planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that inspire creativity and curiosity

• Creating an inclusive classroom where students feel confident to explore, experiment, and learn from mistakes

• Using a range of teaching strategies to support and challenge learners of all abilities

• Assessing progress effectively and adapting teaching to help every student succeed

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop resources and share best practice

• Building positive relationships that encourage excellent behaviour and strong engagement

What We're Looking For

• UK QTS, or currently working towards QTS as an Early Career Teacher

• A genuine passion for Design and Technology and practical learning

• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

• A reflective approach and commitment to continuous professional development

• High expectations alongside a supportive and inclusive teaching style

Why This School?

• A welcoming and collaborative department where ideas are shared and support is always available

• Strong mentoring and professional development opportunities, particularly for ECTs

• Students who enjoy practical learning and respond well to engaging teaching

• A leadership team that values staff wellbeing and career progression

• A culture where innovation, creativity, and teamwork are genuinely encouraged

Why Work with Protocol Education?

• Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies

• FREE access to our CPD Academy

• A dedicated consultant who takes the time to understand what you're looking for

• Opportunities in schools that match your values and teaching style

• A straightforward, stress-free registration process

• A referral scheme that rewards you for recommending great educators

For Early Career Teachers, this is a fantastic opportunity to begin your journey in a school that invests in mentoring, guidance, and professional growth. For experienced teachers, it's a chance to bring your expertise to a supportive department where your contribution will be valued from day one.

If you're ready to inspire the next generation of designers, makers, and problem-solvers, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
