Occupational Therapy

We are currently recruiting for a number of experienced Band 6/7 Paediatric Occupational Therapists to join well-established NHS Children's Therapy Services across London on a locum basis.

These are excellent opportunities to work within supportive multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality occupational therapy services to children and young people with a wide range of developmental, neurological, physical and sensory needs.

As a locum Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of community clinics, Child Development Centres, schools and other NHS settings, while enjoying the flexibility and variety that locum work can offer.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of children and young people presenting with developmental, neurological, physical and sensory difficulties.
- Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments using both standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based, child-centred treatment programmes to maximise independence, participation and functional development.
- Assess for and recommend specialist equipment, seating, splinting, upper limb interventions and environmental adaptations where appropriate.
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions within community clinics, schools, Child Development Centres, nursery settings and family homes where required.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, teachers, SENCOs, paediatricians, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments and provide specialist reports to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
- Deliver education, advice and training to families, carers, schools and healthcare professionals to promote children's functional independence.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences and safeguarding discussions.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC standards, NHS policies and professional guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement projects and ongoing service development.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous experience working within Paediatric Occupational Therapy.
- Experience assessing and treating children with developmental, neurological and physical conditions.
- Knowledge of child development and family-centred practice.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary paediatric teams.
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.

Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience working within an NHS Children's Therapy Service.
- Experience within Child Development Centres, community paediatrics or special schools.
- Experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Knowledge of sensory processing and sensory-based interventions.
- Experience providing specialist equipment, seating or upper limb interventions.
