Looking for a role where you can genuinely change a child's day, week, or even future?
We're working with a number of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Bedminster and South Bristol who are looking for passionate Learning Mentors to join them from the end of September .
This isn't your typical classroom support role.
As a Learning Mentor, you'll be the trusted adult that children turn to when they're finding school difficult. You'll help pupils build confidence, manage emotions, develop positive relationships, and overcome barriers that may be holding them back from learning.
For some children, your encouragement could be the reason they walk into school smiling. For others, you could be the person who helps them believe in themselves again.
If you're patient, resilient, and love seeing young people succeed, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You'll Be Doing
• Building positive relationships with pupils who need additional emotional or behavioural support
• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions
• Helping children regulate emotions and develop coping strategies
• Supporting pupils during challenging moments throughout the school day
• Encouraging confidence, resilience, and positive self-esteem
• Working closely with teachers, SEND teams, and pastoral staff
• Helping create a calm, positive environment where pupils feel safe and ready to learn
Who Thrives as a Learning Mentor?
We're looking for people who:
• Naturally build rapport and trust with children and young people
• Are patient, calm, and resilient when things become challenging
• Have experience in education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, care, or support work, or transferable skills from similar backgrounds
• Believe that every child deserves someone in their corner
• Can remain positive, encouraging, and solution-focused
• Want to make a meaningful difference every single day
Why This Role Is So Rewarding
No two days are ever the same.
One moment you might be helping a child navigate a difficult friendship. The next, you're celebrating a breakthrough in confidence or supporting a pupil back into the classroom after a challenging morning.
You'll see first-hand the impact that consistency, patience, and encouragement can have on a child's school experience.
Why Choose Protocol Education?
• £92 to £97 per day, paid weekly via PAYE
• Roles available from the end of September
• Flexible opportunities and long-term placements available
• Free access to high-quality CPD and wellbeing training

• Local school placements across South Bristol

You'll join teams that value pastoral support, prioritise wellbeing, and understand the important role Learning Mentors play in helping children succeed.

• Passport/proof of right to work in the UK
• 2 proofs of address
• CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any explained gaps
• Two years of references, including childcare where applicable
• Overseas police check if you have lived abroad for 3 months or more in the past 5 years
