Equipment Support Operative

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Equipment Support Operative based at Inverness Asset Resource Centre, on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a flexible working basis would be considered.

The working week will be 35 hours over a compressed 4-day work pattern Monday – Friday.

This is a full time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the detailed inspection, testing and maintenance of operational plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer, SFRS and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) procedures, guidelines and standards.

This post is workshop based but will have a significant requirement for the inspection, testing and maintenance of SFRS operational plant and equipment "on site" at the Services stations and premises throughout the North Service Delivery Area (SDA).

Previous experience in the same or similar field, with proven mechanical based skills and knowledge is required. You will be required to hold a Cat C Large Goods Vehicle driving licence and be able to work unsupervised using own initiative and as part of a team.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
