This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. We have an opportunity for a Clinical Specialist to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Duties of this role include:
- Undertake specialist assessment and treatment of patients with complex hand injuries, post-surgical conditions, fractures, and chronic upper limb dysfunctions.
- Develop and implement highly specialised treatment plans, including splinting, scar management, exercise programmes, and functional rehabilitation.
- Lead the hand therapy service, acting as the key clinical expert within the physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.
- Work closely with orthopaedic consultants, plastic surgeons, nurses, and other allied health professionals to deliver coordinated and effective care.
- Deliver teaching, training, and supervision to therapy colleagues, students, and other healthcare staff.
- Ensure high standards of record keeping, clinical documentation, and outcome tracking in line with professional and organisational requirements.
- HCPC-registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist.
- Extensive post-registration experience in musculoskeletal or upper limb rehabilitation.
- Proven expertise in hand therapy, including splinting, post-surgical care, and conservative management.
- Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teaching skills.
- Experience leading or developing specialist services.
