The Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) aims to accelerate the exploitation of current or recently completed EPSRC, STFC, ESRC, and MRC funded research, through the increased engagement with key stakeholders and project partners. This in turn will demonstrate the impact Surrey's research has had and is having on society in the UK, both socially and economically.
We are seeking 1-2 assistants (open to current PhD students in a scientific discipline ) to help with gathering quantitative data and preparing case studies on the account’s funded projects. This will entail working through the list of completed projects funded through the account, interacting with and helping the Principal Investigators (PIs) of those projects to determine the outcomes of the projects. Outcomes may include training of individuals, further grant funding as a result of the project, interactions with new collaborators, commercialised intellectual property and patents, or publications.
Working with the IAA Manager, Faraz Rizvi, the assistants will help to develop the stories behind each of these completed projects to showcase the impact, successes and lessons learned behind the projects to give feedback to the IAA report and to produce media pieces for the website.
These IAA Officer posts have been created as 6 hrs/week up to 3 months - work can be remote for most of the project.
£17.62 per hour.
£2.13 per hour holiday pay.

Duties and responsibilities
- Support the IAA Manager
- Under their direction, collect data and prepare case studies on the accounts funded projects
- Work through list of completed projects
- Interact with and help the PIs of those projects to determine the outcomes of their projects
- Help to develop the stories behind each of these completed projects to showcase the impact, successes and lessons learned behind the projects
- Input feedback to the IAA report
- Help produce media pieces for the website
Skills and experience
- Currently a PhD Candidate in a scientific discipline
- Proficient in communicating professionally over email and in person
- Experience in preparing reports and a high level of writing
- Approachable, self-motivated, and flexible
- Excellent planning and organising skills
- Strong attention to detail.
