Essential Requirements
To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:
- At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
- PMVA training.
- Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
- Experience promoting independent living skills, including routines and nutrition.
- Confidence using digital care planning systems to maintain accurate records.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).
Desirable Qualifications
• First Aid training or equivalent.
About The Role
Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker
As a Community Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
- Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities that promote independence and build social confidence.
- Supporting with daily living skills, including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs, and personal routines.
- Using PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage behaviours that may challenge.
- Maintaining accurate digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
- Working collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to achieve positive outcomes.
Required Criteria
- Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults or Children).
- Current First Aid training.
