As a qualified Adult or Dual Registered Nurse with proven clinical leadership skills, you will provide senior clinical and operational leadership across the hospice.
You must have up to date competence in a range of clinical skills such as invasive and non-invasive respiratory support; IV and central line management; and end of life care. About us

Jack's is the only hospice for young adults in the South of England. The medical and care teams offer specialist care, often over many years, and uphold the dignity and independence of young adults accessing the service.

- REGISTERED NURSE with valid up to date registration with NMC.
- RN Adult
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Relevant experience of caring for young adults with highly complex care needs and disability.
- Experience of holistic assessment and individualised planning of care.
- Experience of effective collaborative working with professionals from other agencies and disciplines.
- Experience of clinical audit.
- Experience and good understanding of clinical supervision and reflective practice.
- Evidence of change management, leadership and innovation
- Experience of line management of clinical staff including appraisals and sickness/absence, and performance management
- Competent clinical skills based on current best evidence, to include medicine management; IV therapy; symptom management; respiratory support including invasive and non-invasive ventilation; nutritional care/enteral feeding; neurological care/seizure management.
- Ability to gather information quickly, make decisions and communicate appropriately
- Ability to manage own time and workload effectively.
- Ability to support and supervise junior staff.
- Knowledge of relevant guidance/NMC/local policies to support clinical practice. Clear understanding of professional accountability.
- Understanding of the impact on the child or young adult of living with a disability and on families caring for a child/young adult with complex needs.
- A working understanding of Clinical Governance and Care Quality Commission standards.
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and support staff in this
- Personal grief/loss resolved sufficiently to perform and cope in an environment that has likely exposure to bereavement concerns
- Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to changing service needs.
- Able to work independently, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Drive for improved outcomes for children, young people and families.
- Enthusiasm, professionalism, positivity and good work ethic.
- Ability to cover full 24 hr shift patterns and on call including weekends and Bank Holidays

- RSCN/RN Child
- Education to degree or Masters level
- Leadership qualification/training
- Palliative care course
- Mentoring qualification.
- Relevant experience of caring for children with highly complex care needs and disability.
- Experience of working with children/young adults with palliative care needs.
- Experience of child protection and vulnerable adult procedures, report writing and conferences.
- Enhanced communication skills including Makaton, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), PECS.
- Knowledge and experience of various physical and mental health conditions associated with, children with life limited diagnosis and palliative care.
- Good understanding of safeguarding childrens policies and procedures- with safeguarding experience including Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked after Children.
