Geography Teacher - Warwick, Warwickshire

A high-performing and well-established 11–18 secondary school in Warwick is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join its successful Humanities faculty. This is a full-time, permanent role in a school known for its strong academic standards, respectful student behaviour and supportive professional culture.

Geography is a popular subject within the school, valued for its relevance, academic challenge and contribution to students’ understanding of the wider world. This opportunity would suit a Geography teacher who enjoys combining strong subject knowledge with engaging, real-world teaching.

The Role

You will teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the opportunity to teach A-Level for candidates with the appropriate experience. The department follows a carefully sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum that balances physical and human geography while developing key geographical skills.

At Key Stage 3, students build strong foundations in map skills, data interpretation and geographical enquiry. Lessons focus on helping pupils understand processes such as climate systems, population change and resource management, with clear modelling and structured activities to support all learners.

At GCSE, teaching centres on developing confident application of case studies, structured extended writing and exam technique. Students are supported through regular retrieval practice and consistent assessment approaches, contributing to strong engagement and outcomes.

Where A-Level Geography is taught, lessons encourage independent thinking, critical evaluation of geographical issues and wider reading, supported by small class sizes and close academic guidance.

The Geography Department

The Geography department is part of a collaborative Humanities team and is staffed by experienced subject specialists. Schemes of work are well developed and centrally resourced, providing clarity and consistency while allowing teachers to bring their own expertise and interests into lessons.

Department meetings are purposeful and focused on curriculum development, assessment and sharing effective practice. There is a supportive culture where colleagues readily exchange ideas and resources.

Fieldwork is embedded into the curriculum and is planned carefully to ensure it is meaningful, manageable and well supported. Local and regional fieldwork opportunities are used to enrich learning and develop students’ enquiry skills.

The School

This Good-rated secondary school has a strong reputation locally for its calm learning environment, clear expectations and positive relationships. Students are polite, motivated and responsive to consistent routines, creating classrooms where teaching and learning can thrive.

Leadership is visible and approachable, with a clear focus on supporting staff wellbeing and professional growth. Teachers are trusted to teach effectively, with systems in place to minimise unnecessary workload.

Pastoral support is well organised, with tutors, heads of year and pastoral teams working closely together to support student progress and wellbeing.

Facilities and Learning Environment

The Humanities department is based in a modernised area of the school, with bright, well-maintained classrooms designed to support discussion, group work and extended writing.

Teaching spaces are equipped with interactive screens and visualisers, supporting modelling and geographical skills development. Shared digital resources, including case studies and assessment materials, are easily accessible and regularly updated.

The wider school site is well organised and orderly, contributing to a calm and focused working environment.

Professional Development

The school places strong emphasis on professional development and supports staff through:

  • Regular subject-specific CPD

  • Opportunities to contribute to curriculum refinement

  • Access to coaching and peer observation

  • Clear pathways into subject or pastoral leadership

Staff are encouraged to develop at a sustainable pace, with support available at every stage.

The Ideal Candidate

You will:

  • Hold QTS or equivalent

  • Have strong subject knowledge in Geography

  • Be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Value inclusive teaching and high expectations

  • Be organised, reflective and collaborative

Why Apply?

  • Supportive and well-established Humanities faculty

  • Calm classrooms and positive student behaviour

  • Clear curriculum structure and shared resources

  • Strong leadership and realistic workload expectations

If you’re a Geography Teacher looking for a January 2026 role in a school that combines academic ambition with genuine professional support, we would be delighted to receive your CV.
