A fantastic opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Lead Nurse to join the leadership team on a brand new purpose built mixed gender acute inpatient mental health Ward. Sycamore Ward is an 18-bedded, purpose-built assessment and treatment unit for mixed gender adults of working age experiencing a variety of acute mental health difficulties. Part of a rand new acute inpatient unit which opened at the end of March 2025. Sycamore Ward has a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team and is one of 3 wards who work closely together supporting adults in North Derbyshire. We put the patients first and deliver a high standard of care. Offering en-suite rooms for promotion of dignity, safety and therapeutic spaces with an emphasis on high quality patient experience which includes any additional sensory needs. Sycamore Ward encourages therapeutic interventions and delivers care to national recommendations. We pride ourselves on developing the workforce and are committed to providing the best care to our service users. We put a high emphasis on quality of care, peer support and on clinical engagement in service development and management. You will:
- Provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of and shape responsive services.
- Monitor and ensure maintenance of standards of care that support safe high quality practice throughout the twenty-four hour period.
- Supporting junior colleagues within the multi-disciplinary process.
- Supervise staff and promote development.Be part of the Bleep Holder rota.
- Always act in a way which reflects both the word and spirit of the Trust's values

- NMC Registered Nurse - RNMH
- Educated to to Diploma Level (ie Dip HE Nursing) or evidence of post qualification education/training
- Mentorship
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience
- Previous, recent, relevant experience
- Recent experience with an acute inpatient setting

- Demonstrate leadership skills such as motivation, facilitation, mentorship, etc. Demonstrate up-to-date evidence-based
- Experience in managing and leading a team in difficult clinical situations
- Evidence of being able to work independently
- Experience of leading and supporting staff progression and development
