A supportive specialist provision in Truro is looking for a SEND Progression Support Worker to work with children and young people who need additional guidance to engage with learning, build independence and prepare for their next steps.
You'll support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and associated learning or communication difficulties .
Importantly, this isn't just about supporting pupils' development. It's also an opportunity to develop your own career , with specialist experience, ongoing learning and the potential to progress into a permanent position.
Help Young People Recognise What They're Capable Of
Success within specialist education isn't always measured by exam results.
For one pupil, progress might mean completing a lesson. For another, it could be managing frustration differently, communicating confidently or developing the independence to tackle something without support.
You'll help create those moments of progress.
Your Role Will Involve
- Developing supportive and professional relationships with pupils
- Providing tailored one-to-one and small-group support
- Helping young people access learning at a level appropriate to them
- Encouraging independence and personal responsibility
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence and resilience
- Helping young people recognise and manage their emotions
- Using positive strategies to support behaviour
- Encouraging communication and social development
- Supporting practical learning, enrichment and activities beyond the classroom
- Working closely with teachers and specialist colleagues to understand individual pupil needs

You don't necessarily need to come from another school.
Relevant experience could have been gained through care, youth services, residential support, mentoring, coaching, community work or other roles involving children, young people or vulnerable individuals .

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required, along with an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
