Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Trials to join our Research & Development team. This exciting opportunity will support the delivery and management of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials, helping to ensure patients have access to innovative treatments and research opportunities. Working mornings Monday to Friday, the post holder will undertake a varied role encompassing administrative, dispensing, medicines management and clinical responsibilities within the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Service. You will receive specialist training to develop the knowledge and skills required to dispense and accuracy check a wide range of clinical trial medicines and support the safe and compliant management of research studies. Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist for Research and Clinical Trials, research nurses and the wider pharmacy team, you will help ensure clinical trial medications, documentation and pharmacy files are maintained to the highest standards and remain inspection-ready at all times. The role is based at Two Bridges, Chertsey, with occasional travel required across the Trust and collaborator sites. There is no weekend or on-call commitment. Main duties of the job

- Support the safe and effective dispensing, accuracy checking and supply of clinical trial medicines.
- Assist in the set-up, maintenance and close-out of clinical trials, ensuring all pharmacy documentation and records are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain trial medication files, training records, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and essential study documentation to inspection-ready standards.
- Coordinate and support monitoring visits, audits, archiving activities and study close-out processes.
- Assist with the management, storage, stock control and accountability of investigational medicinal products (IMPs).
- Work collaboratively with research nurses, investigators, trial monitors and pharmacy colleagues to ensure the efficient delivery of clinical trials and excellent patient care.
- Support the Lead Pharmacist for Research and Clinical Trials in maintaining compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), MHRA requirements and local policies.
- Contribute to staff training, service improvement initiatives, audit activities and the ongoing development of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Service.
- Attend relevant meetings and support the wider Research & Development agenda across the Trust.
- Maintain professional competency and contribute to a high-quality, patient-centred clinical trials service.

- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent)
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) (or equivalent training)
- Accreditation in Medicines Management or local equivalent
- Relevant post qualification Clinical trials courses and training
- GCP training within the last 2 years
Essential
- Significant post-registration experience of hospital pharmacy
- Previous experience of practicing as an accredited accuracy checking technician
- Supervising other pharmacy staff
- Previous involvement in staff training
- Evidence of CPD development
- Providing medicines management service in an in-patient setting
