Breast Consultant Radiographer

Job summary
This full-time, fixed-term Consultant Radiographer role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to both symptomatic and screening services within Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Secondment requests are welcome.

You'll work across the full breadth of breast imaging, including the NHS Breast Screening Programme, within a service known for high clinical standards and a strong commitment to patient care. Main duties of the job

• The symptomatic breast work will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patients.
• Participation at MDT meetings.
• Depending on experience, the role may also involve ultrasound guided VAE
• There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would become involved in training, guiding, mentoring and continued professional development of Specialist Registrars in Radiology, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• BsC in Radiology or equivalent
• Certificate of Competence in Mammography or equivalent
• Post-graduate qualifications in Advanced Medical Imaging (Breast) including Clinical examination, Image interpretation, Breast ultrasound and Interventional techniques
• Full registration with the GMC or equivalent
• Be a HCPC-registered practitioner, authorised under IR(ME)R, responsible for the justification and authorisation of medical exposures to ionising radiation

Desirable

• Full masters degree relevant to role or equivalent qualification

Experience
Essential

• Extensive experience working in a senior position within a breast imaging team
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of breast patients
• Ability to independently undertake all aspects of symptomatic and NHSBSP breast work

Desirable

• An understanding of the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit.
• Knowledge & understanding of role of ethical committee
• Experience in research and audit

• Ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships within a team
• Ability to inspire, motivate and develop junior medical staff
• Ability to work independently as well as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole.
