Behaviour Support Assistant - Hull
Pay: £93-£110 per day, depending on experience

Full-time GSL Education Hull are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision setting in Hull. The school supports young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education , providing a safe, supportive and structured environment where pupils are encouraged to develop their confidence, resilience and ability to make positive choices. The setting works with pupils aged 11-16 and supports a range of SEND and SEMH needs. The school places a strong emphasis on understanding the individual child behind the behaviour , using nurture and trauma-informed approaches to help pupils develop emotional resilience and engage positively with education. The Role as a Teaching Assistant
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will: * Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. * Build positive, trusting relationships with young people. * Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour . * Help identify triggers and understand the reasons behind behaviour. * Use calm, consistent and appropriate strategies to de-escalate challenging situations . * Encourage pupils to engage with learning and develop confidence. * Maintain clear and consistent boundaries. * Support pupils to develop resilience, independence and positive social skills. * Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team. * Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment. We are looking for someone who is: * Experienced supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour . * Calm, patient and resilient when dealing with difficult situations. * Confident managing behaviour while maintaining positive relationships. * Able to remain consistent and professional under pressure. * Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education. * A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a team. * Experienced in education, youth work, care, residential support or a similar setting. This would suit a Behaviour Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker or Mentor looking to develop their experience within a specialist alternative provision setting.
