The role:

Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of patients and their families? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the Frailty Unit within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will support older adults living with frailty and complex healthcare needs throughout their hospital journey, delivering compassionate, person-centred care. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Glasgow Royal Infirmary
• Monday to Sunday, 12 hour day & night shifts
• Various full-time and part-time positions available
• Permanent roles
• Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care for patients within the Frailty Unit
• Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing
• Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to contribute to all aspects of patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team
• Accurately record and report patient information in line with local policies and procedures
• Contribute positively to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming clinical environment
• Provide compassionate support to patients throughout their hospital journey, helping to deliver the highest standards of care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• A genuine commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment
• A caring, respectful and professional approach to patient care at all times
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain calm in a fast-paced setting
• Previous experience within a healthcare environment is desirable, particularly within acute or elderly care services
• Commitment to maintaining patient dignity, privacy and wellbeing while upholding NHS values
