SEN Teaching Assistant - PMLD Support
Location: Bolton
Salary: £115+ per day, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Long-term
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with complex and profound learning needs?
Educato Recruitment are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Bolton, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) .
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing and confident providing personalised support to pupils with complex needs. The school provides a highly supportive environment where staff work closely together to help pupils develop their communication, independence and life skills.
The Role
You will work as part of a dedicated team supporting pupils with PMLD and complex additional needs .
The role will involve providing a high level of individualised support throughout the school day, helping pupils engage with learning and communication activities while supporting their physical, sensory and personal care needs where required.
You will be expected to follow individual support plans and work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to ensure each pupil receives consistent and appropriate support.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD
- Supporting pupils to access personalised learning activities
- Encouraging communication and interaction
- Supporting sensory-based activities and experiences
- Promoting independence and developing life skills
- Supporting pupils with their physical and emotional wellbeing
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Supporting mobility and safe movement around the school
- Helping pupils regulate and remain comfortable throughout the day
- Following individual care plans, EHCPs and support strategies
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist support staff
- Liaising with therapists and other professionals where appropriate
- Maintaining a calm, safe and nurturing environment
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN, PMLD or significant learning needs .

Experience with PMLD, MLD, SLD, ASD, sensory needs or complex physical needs would be highly desirable.
Experience within a specialist SEN school, care setting, residential setting, nursing environment or similar role would also be considered.

Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
- PMLD or complex SEN experience is highly desirable
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Two suitable references
- Right to work in the UK
