Governing Body Adviser| Permanent| Part-time

Salary £28142-£32061 Per annum (Pro Rata)| Permanent| Part-Time - 19 hours per week

You will join a team which provides a professional clerking service to school governing bodies in the Hyndburn & the Ribble Valley, Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale areas of Lancashire.

Duties include regular attendance at evening/twilight governing body and committee meetings at schools, work which is concerned with the preparation for and follow-up to meetings, and the maintenance of detailed records.

The position is part time term time only, the successful applicant will work an average of 19 hours per week, but this will vary dependant on work load for the 38 weeks of the school year, payment will include statutory holidays and will be monthly throughout the year. Please note that the salary quoted, will be pro rata for this position.

You should have administrative experience which would enable you to clerk meetings with extensive and varied agendas and to advise on the interpretation of regulations relating to school governing bodies.

Previous experience of the following is essential to the post;

• successful minuting/note taking at meetings

• use of database, MS Word and other IT applications

Specialist training is provided, as well as ongoing support and guidance.

This position is part time, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
