Science Teaching Role in an Academy Setting

About the Role

You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that develop students’ understanding of scientific concepts and investigative skills.

The role includes both theoretical teaching and practical laboratory work, helping students build confidence in experimentation, analysis, and scientific reasoning.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, supporting them in developing subject knowledge and exam technique.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain consistency in curriculum delivery and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5

• Deliver lessons covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

• Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations

• Assess student work and provide structured feedback

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

• Maintain safe laboratory environments

• Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Strong classroom management skills

• Good organisational and communication skills

Desirable

• Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

• Experience teaching KS5 Science

• Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
