£31.9 - £37.1 per hourEstimated
Full-time
Job Description

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects, and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

Who We Are

WSP is a global leader in engineering and professional services, delivering innovative solutions that shape communities and advance society. Our award-winning culture empowers professionals to tackle complex challenges and create a better future through sustainability, innovation and collaboration.

A Little More About Your Role

Our Project, Commercial & Programme Management (PMCM) business is supporting some of the UK's most important water and environmental infrastructure programmes. As investment across the water sector continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join our expanding team and support the delivery of projects for water companies and infrastructure clients across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their project management career who is looking to build their experience within a leading consultancy. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers, technical specialists and client teams, helping to deliver projects that improve water quality, increase resilience and support sustainable communities.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our PMCM team, you will:
  • Support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with project planning, programme management, reporting, risk management and project controls activities.
  • Support the administration of NEC contracts and project governance processes.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, design teams and other stakeholders to help ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor project performance, including cost, schedule, risks and actions.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, meeting minutes and progress updates.
  • Contribute to the delivery of major capital investment programmes across the regulated water sector.
  • Champion best practice in health and safety, quality, sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop your project management skills through mentoring, training and exposure to a wide variety of projects.
What We Are Looking For You To Demonstrate

We are particularly interested in candidates who are looking to build a career in project management within the water sector and who can bring a proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.

You will ideally demonstrate:
  • Experience working in a project support, project coordination, assistant project management or similar role within a consultancy, engineering or infrastructure environment.
  • Exposure to the water sector, utilities sector or wider infrastructure projects would be highly desirable.
  • An understanding of core project management principles including programme, cost, risk and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence when engaging with clients and project teams.
  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Progress towards a recognised project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in developing a long-term career within the water and infrastructure sector.
  • A commitment to health, safety, sustainability and continuous professional development.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have gained experience within a consultancy environment and have worked on water, utilities or environmental projects, even if this experience has been at a junior level.

Why Join WSP?

At WSP, you'll have the opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant water infrastructure programmes while benefiting from the support, resources and career opportunities of a global organisation.
