Job Summary
Anglo Singapore International School is seeking a compassionate, professional, and experienced Kindergarten & Primary School Counsellor to join our international school community in Bangkok. The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding, and pastoral care of students in the Kindergarten and Primary years. This position is well suited to a counsellor who is confident in individual casework, works ethically and collaboratively, and is committed to supporting young children's social-emotional development within a nurturing and academically focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group counselling to support students' social, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing.
Act as a key point of contact for student wellbeing and pastoral cases, working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, the Wellbeing and Student Development Department, and parents.
Support students experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, friendship difficulties, behavioural concerns, school adjustment issues, or other wellbeing needs appropriate to the Kindergarten and Primary years.
Work closely with parents, meeting with families to discuss student wellbeing concerns, share professional guidance, and agree on appropriate support strategies.
Contribute actively to the school's safeguarding and child protection processes, including identifying concerns, maintaining accurate records, and following reporting procedures.
Collaborate with external professionals, including psychologists, counsellors, therapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and medical practitioners, where appropriate and in consultation with the Principal and parents.
Coordinate referrals and follow-up support to ensure continuity and effectiveness of student care.
Provide consultation and practical strategies to teachers and support staff on meeting students' emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs within the classroom.
Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records in accordance with professional, ethical, and school standards.
Respond appropriately to student wellbeing concerns or crisis situations, following established school protocols.
Support the implementation of wellbeing initiatives, social-emotional learning programmes, and preventative education across the Kindergarten and Primary divisions.
Promote a respectful, safe, inclusive, and nurturing school culture that prioritises student wellbeing.
Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflective practice, and contribute positively to the wider school community.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Counselling, Psychology, Education, or a related field
Recognised professional training or certification in counselling or psychology.
Prior experience working with Kindergarten and/or Primary school-aged students is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of early childhood and child development, mental health, and student wellbeing.
Experience in school-based counselling or pastoral care is an advantage.
Strong proficiency in English for professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse, international school environment.
