Client Relationship Manager (Accounts & Advisory)
Location: Cumbria (multiple office locations)
Salary: Up to £50,000 + 17% performance-related bonus

The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who is looking to step into a more client-focused, advisory-led role.
Working with a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy firm in Cumbria, you’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted advisor to owner-managed and family-run businesses.
If you enjoy working closely with clients, adding real value beyond compliance, and want to play a more visible role in their growth and success, this is an excellent step forward.
The Role
You’ll manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing a mix of accounts, management reporting and advisory support.
This is not just a compliance role. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their businesses, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own portfolio of owner-managed and family-run business clients
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
- Producing management accounts and financial reports
- Building strong, long-term client relationships through regular contact
- Providing clear, practical financial advice to support business performance
- Identifying opportunities to deliver additional value and advisory services
- Supporting clients with business improvement and growth strategies
- Working closely with Directors and senior leadership on client matters
- Contributing to business development through referrals and networking
About You
- Experienced within a UK accountancy practice
- ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
- Confident managing client relationships and handling a portfolio
- Strong grounding in accounts and client-facing work
- Commercially aware, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Comfortable using accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
- Strong communicator who enjoys building relationships with clients
