The Best Connection is recruiting on behalf of our client for an HGV Class 2 Day Driver.
Our client works with a wide range of customers within the automotive trade, collecting used car and van tyres from customer premises and transporting them back to their depot for recycling. The operation runs Monday to Friday from their depot near Selby, North Yorkshire, with occasional Saturday work available when required.
About the Role
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be physically fit, as tyres are loaded by hand onto the vehicle. The work can be dirty, as tyres are often stored outdoors in all weather conditions.
We are looking for a reliable, professional, and hardworking Class 2 driver to provide cover for sickness and holiday absences, with a start date in the final week of July. Cover periods are expected to continue throughout the summer and autumn months, providing near-continuous work.
This role is a temporary to permanent offer for the successful candidate..
This position may be particularly suitable for a recently qualified Class 2 driver who is looking to gain valuable experience.
Pay and Benefits
- £14.50 per hour for 1 st 12 weeks then £ 16.02 per hour.
- Guaranteed minimum of 50 paid hours per week (for a full week's work)
- 28 days' holiday per year (accrued)
Working Hours
Start times are typically from 5:30am onwards.
Full training will be provided on the safe loading and securing of tyres within the vehicle.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Aged 25 or over (for insurance purposes)
- Held Category C entitlement for a minimum of 3 months
- Some Class 2 driving experience gained during that period
- No DR, DD, CD, or IN10 endorsements
- No more than 6 minor penalty points
