Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Working alongside experienced engineers to learn electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on manufacturing equipment
- Assisting with fault finding, diagnosis, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems
- Learning how to safely use engineering tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments
- Supporting the installation, testing, and commissioning of machinery and equipment
- Developing an understanding of PLCs, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems
- Following health, safety, and environmental procedures always
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing apprenticeship coursework
- Participating in continuous improvement activities to help improve equipment reliability and performance
- Building the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- 3 other subjects (grade 9-4/A*-C)
