Job Overview
Sets day-to-day operational objectives for team, focusing on mentoring, coaching, and work flow coordination. Monitors and analyzes operational metrics to identify areas for improvement to improve performance and cost savings initiatives. Determines resourcing needs to ensure effective delivery. Responsible for department health and safety and good housekeeping standards. Ensures team adherence to appropriate quality control systems and procedures. Maintain SOPs to ensure all procedures are documented, and required amendments to procedures are highlighted and progressed immediately. Ensures training of new personnel according to the time guidelines in the training plans and for cross-training/refresher training to ensure adequate staff coverage as required. Acts as a point for internal and external clients for problem resolution and inquiries. Identification of resource requirements, progressing staff recruitment, appraising performance and guiding professional development, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems. Assists in the planning for department growth, drives new department initiatives, contributes to identifying cost savings opportunities, and process improvements. Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree Req or Other equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 years experience in Specimen Management or related clinical lab services function.
- Demonstrates natural ability to guide and mentor others, as well as navigating challenges in operational and people matters.
- Strong understanding of specific area of responsibility.
- Strong understanding of operations and methods.
- Knowledge of study set up and cross functional/system dependencies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively delegate work.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, and direct team members.
