A young woman is seeking a non‑smoking female Personal Assistant to support her in living an independent, active and fulfilling day‑to‑day life. This is a job‑share role , with additional hours available to cover annual leave or sickness. The role is based in Gillingham, Kent.
About the Role
You will provide flexible, practical and person‑centred support across a wide range of daily activities, including:
- Using a Motability vehicle for collecting medication, shopping and general errands
- Assisting with household cleaning
- Meal preparation and support with maintaining a healthy routine
- Occasional personal hygiene support
- Helping push my chair up steep hills or if I am tired and l oading my wheelchair and equipment in the car
- Supporting with getting in and out of a swimming pool
- Accompanying me into nature and outdoor spaces
- Supporting with medical administration , including organising appointments and chasing missed correspondence
- Being comfortable working quietly or in silence when I need rest or low‑stimulus time
- Being understanding and supportive during phobias or anxiety attacks , especially when in public
A clean UK driving licence is essential. You must also be physically able to lift mobility equipment weighing 11kg into a car.
About You

- Comfortable in queer social spaces
- Confident driving in central London and on motorways
- Comfortable and confident in swimming pools
- Physically fit (to support pushing my wheelchair up hills and loading equipment in the car)
Experience as a Personal Assistant is not required — a willingness to learn and a supportive attitude are far more important.
Additional Information
- This role requires an enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer) and references
- The employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010
- Hours are flexible between Monday and Sunday , with monthly timesheets provided in advance. Hours may change due to last‑minute medical appointments.
