About Us
At NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, we are a national NHS Board delivering specialist healthcare services, pioneering innovation and supporting NHS Scotland through our national programmes and strategic initiatives. We are committed to excellence, transparency and continuous improvement, ensuring the highest standards of governance underpin everything we do.
As we continue to evolve and expand our role across Scotland's healthcare, we are looking for an exceptional governance leader to join our senior team and help shape the future direction of our organisation.
About The Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Transformation and Strategy, you will lead our Corporate Governance and Corporate Administration function, providing strategic leadership and expert advice on all aspects of governance, compliance and organisational accountability.
Working closely with the Board Chair, Chief Executive, Non-Executive Directors and Executive Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust governance arrangements that support effective decision-making, organisational performance and public accountability.
The role carries responsibility for developing and continuously improving the Board's governance framework, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, statutory requirements and NHS Scotland guidance. You will serve as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, supporting the Board and its Committees to operate effectively, transparently and in accordance with best practice.
You will also lead the delivery of Board and Committee business, oversee key governance processes, provide oversight of corporate administration services and contribute to the strategic development of the organisation as it responds to a complex and evolving healthcare environment.
This is an exceptional opportunity to influence corporate governance at the highest level of the organisation and help shape the future direction of NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.
About You
We are looking for a credible and experienced governance professional with a strong track record of providing expert advice to Boards and senior leaders within a complex public sector environment.
You will be educated to Master's level, or possess equivalent extensive experience and expertise in corporate governance, and have significant senior management experience, ideally within the NHS or wider public sector.
You will bring:
• Extensive knowledge of corporate governance principles, public sector accountability and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience advising Boards, committees and senior executives on complex governance matters.
• Strong understanding of NHS Scotland policy, legislation and governance requirements.
• Exceptional report-writing, communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Excellent negotiation, facilitation and strategic planning skills.
• Resilience, sound judgement and the ability to balance competing priorities within a politically and operationally complex environment.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of Scotland's most progressive NHS organisations. You will work alongside senior leaders and Board members, influencing decisions that support high-quality healthcare services and national strategic priorities.
If you are an accomplished governance professional who thrives in a strategic leadership role and is passionate about embedding excellence in corporate governance, we would welcome your application.
