This expanding mid-market commercial law firm is seeking a corporate tax specialist to lead their tax and incentives offering. This is a new role, designed to plug a key strategic gap and bring in-house a stream of transactional tax work currently outsourced to boutique consultancies.
The new partner will be the firm’s technical authority on tax, with a mandate to lead, and grow the Corporate Tax and Incentives practice.
The mandate is primarily driven by a rapidly growing, 40-fee-earner transactional team that handles a sophisticated blend of mid-market M&A, particularly for OMBs across the technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and insurance sectors. The practice has a strong track record in high-value buy-side and sell-side mandates, requiring expert advice on tax structuring, clearances, and the drafting and negotiation of tax warranties and indemnities.
You will also assist the corporate team in designing and advising on complex share incentive arrangements and employee equity schemes primarily for private limited companies.
The incoming partner will also collaborate with the firm's heavyweight Private Wealth and Real Estate teams. This cross-departmental work will involve advising on the corporate tax aspects of group reorganisations, restructuring, and investment structuring, specifically around the creation and UK taxation of Family Investment Companies (FICs), private funds and other collective investment vehicles.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a coveted greenfield tax partner position, in a firm where there is an existing flow of work. That work is of a good variety and will only increase with someone in situ. The firm are very open to taking a small team or a partner with desire to hire around them. Budget is there for support.
This position should therefore be appealing to tax lawyer at either senior associate or partner level, who has a broad range of experience from a leading City, national or regional UK law firm. Technical ability, a collaborative approach and commercial mindset are the key qualities required.
