The Role

To be observant in helping to reduce/ prevent crime on the UHM Site

To assist in providing a safe and secure environment for Patients, Staff, Visitors

To undertake regular patrol of the internal and external site of the UHM sites.

To provide help and advice to Patients, Visitors and Staff

To be an advocate for NHSL whilst undertaking their role.

In this key role, you will:

Ensure a security presence is provided throughout all areas of the hospital in order to deliver a polite, efficient and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff

To patrol the site, ensuring vehicles parked in an unauthorised/inappropriate manner are stickered and record of such maintained in line with training/standard operating procedure provided

Attend intruder alarm activation and respond in line with the agreed training /standard operating procedure/policies

Undertake physical patrols of hospital site in line with the agreed schedule

To support nursing/clinical staff by using de-escalation techniques in an effort to defuse potential violent and aggressive situations

Ensure the safety and consideration of patients, staff and visitors at all times whilst performing tasks

What You'll Bring:

The post holder will be expected to gain an understanding of a range of work procedures gained through induction and training. The required skills include but are not limited to.

Level of H&S Knowledge in line with NHSL and departmental policies and (SOP’s)

Communication skills that are supportive, empathetic, compassionate and have the ability to de-escalate difficult conversations

Knowledge of site lay out

Basic knowledge of CCTV

Requires a professional and sympathetic approach to people

To be physically fit and be able to understand and react correctly and quickly to incidents remaining competent under pressure.

Use of communication equipment

Use of monitoring systems
