Job summary
Senior Clinical Psychologist/ Counselling Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist: Band 8a, 37.5 hours per week.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist, or Psychological Therapist to be part of a well established and supportive psychological team working with clients presenting with significant mental health difficulties as part of the North Tyneside Community Treatment Team (CTT).
The post sits within a combined psychosis and non-psychosis pathway, offering assessment and interventions for service users with complex and enduring mental health difficulties including PTSD, dissociative disorders, personality difficulties, psychosis, bipolar disorder and long standing affective disorders.
The successful candidate will be based at The Oxford Centre in Longbenton, North Tyneside within a large and established multi disciplinary team. There will also be an expectation of working into our other bases as required in Whitley Bay and North Shields. Alongside colleagues from various disciplines, you will be central in providing a range of evidence- based psychological interventions, including CBT, CBTp, EMDR, DBT, SCM and CAT both on a one to one basis and in a group setting. The role also involves providing clinical supervision and scaffolding to the wider team. Furthermore, there are opportunities to link in with the wider psychology team across the locality to contribute to training and research.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder is responsible for providing qualified specialist psychological therapy to clients in North Tyneside CTT, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions, in addition to clinical supervision, advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of evidence-based assessment, formulation, care and treatment. The role will involve working with service users, families and carers within the team bases and occasionally within the community or service users home.
The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.
The post-holder will provide clinical supervision and clinical consultation/ advice in accordance with service needs. The post-holder will take a lead role within the team for psychological treatments in the psychosis and non-psychosis pathway, including responsibility for checking adherence to NICE guidance through clinical supervision and monitoring.
The post-holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity. The post-holder will contribute to training on a multi-disciplinary basis. The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
Essential

• Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society/An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health
• HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner. Member of an appropriate professional body

Desirable

• Previous experience in mental health settings
• Additional therapy such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, CAT

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the client group
• Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology./Substantial post qualification experience of specialist model specific psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.
• Evidence of continuing professional development as required
• Experience of providing clinical supervision.
