The Opportunity
Urban drainage is at the heart of some of the UK's biggest water and environmental challenges, from reducing storm overflow impacts and improving water quality to creating more resilient wastewater networks. At Stantec, our Urban Drainage Modelling teams are playing a key role in helping water companies understand these challenges and deliver smarter, more sustainable solutions.
We’re looking for Urban Drainage Modellers to join our Northern teams in Newcastle or Leeds , where you’ll become part of an established and growing community of modelling specialists working across major UK water programmes.

You Will
- Develop, verify and maintain hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM.
- Undertake urban drainage and wastewater modelling studies to support client investment and operational decisions.
- Work on projects covering storm overflows, water quality, network performance, urban pollution and flood risk.
- Analyse modelling outputs and provide clear technical recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Contribute to the development of innovative modelling approaches, digital solutions and improved ways of working.
- Collaborate with engineers, modellers, environmental specialists, clients and consultant/contractor partners.
- Support the delivery of projects across a range of UK water company frameworks.
You’ll be part of a wider UDM community of around 175 specialists across the UK and internationally, giving you the opportunity to share knowledge, learn from experienced practitioners and contribute to industry-leading modelling work.
YOUR IMPACT
The work you deliver will help water companies make better-informed decisions about their wastewater networks and future investment, supporting improvements in water quality, pollution reduction and environmental performance.
From understanding network behaviour to identifying solutions for storm overflow and wider wastewater challenges, your modelling will directly contribute to the development of more resilient and sustainable water infrastructure.
Working from Newcastle or Leeds , you’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with teams across the UK, contributing to major programmes with clients including
United Utilities, Yorkshire Water and Northumbrian Water .
