NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The role:
The MDT Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting patients along their care pathway, ensuring a seamless experience as they receive treatment from a range of clinical professionals. This position is both rewarding and challenging, with a high volume of work requiring excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate self‑motivation, enthusiasm and approachability, and will thrive in a collaborative healthcare environment. You must be able to adapt to fast‑paced changes, respond to clinical needs promptly, and maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times. The post holder will be expected to foster a culture of teamwork and inclusivity, actively contributing to the achievement of departmental targets and patient outcomes. Experience within an NHS setting and a working knowledge of healthcare administration will be advantageous.
Occasionally, you may be called upon to assist with other administrative duties within the department to ensure the smooth running of services. Flexibility and a willingness to support colleagues in a variety of roles are essential.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Fixed Term, Part-time
Base location - Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Key responsibilities:
Collaborating with the MDT — Working closely with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals and clerical staff to coordinate patient care and streamline communication. Acting as the point of contact for MDT meetings and ensuring all relevant information is shared promptly and accurately.
Administrative support for MDT meetings — Preparing agendas and minutes, tracking action points and ensuring follow‑up activities are completed. Supporting the achievement of departmental outcomes and targets.
Comprehensive administration and secretarial duties — Managing and analysing patient data, producing reports for clinical audits, and supporting compliance with NHS Scotland standards and policies.
Coordinating patient appointments — Arranging appointments related to MDT discussions and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and on time. Liaising with patients, families and clinical teams to support the patient journey.
Supporting wider departmental administration — Covering reception, processing referrals, supporting patient documentation, and assisting with audit and quality‑improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Working knowledge of healthcare administration is beneficial.
Ability to adapt to fast‑paced changes and respond promptly to clinical needs.
Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service and the Recruitment Process:
AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.
- Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
- Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
- Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.
Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
