Job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Grade Doctor in Respiratory Medicine to join our dynamic and expanding Respiratory Medicine Department based primarily at Glenfield Hospital, part of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading respiratory centres, recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in respiratory clinical care, research, innovation, and education. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient respiratory services.

The primary focus of the job plan will be providing direct clinical care, meeting service improvement and delivery with the opportunity to develop special area of interest and skills. The role will be supported by the availability of development opportunities (such as fulfilling CESR route, management additional responsibilities, academia and research if required) for both service needs and individual progression.

Main duties of the job
Specialist Grades will have a continuing clinical and professional responsibility for the care of patients in their charge. They will undertake administrative duties associated with providing patient care. Specialist Grades are expected to follow agreed departmental, Trust and national policies and guidelines.

It is also the duty of a Specialist Grade to:

• Keep patients (and/or their careers, if appropriate) informed about their condition.
• Involve patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) in decision-making about their treatment.
• Maintain professional standards and obligations set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted occasionally.

A Specialist Grade is responsible for carrying out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan, such as:

• The keeping of records and the provision of reports
• The proper delegation of tasks
• Maintaining skills and knowledge
