Are you looking for a rewarding and dynamic role in Critical Care?

Join our dynamic Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Surgery Pharmacy teams and play a key role in delivering high-quality services within Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Surgery in NHS Lothian. We are seeking a specialist pharmacist to work within the Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Surgery Pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams who will optimise complex medication regimens for critically ill and ward step down patients and will contribute to quality improvement, service development and medication safety initiatives.

About the Role
As a key member of the Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary teams, you will have valued input to the daily consultant led ward rounds, reviewing a varied caseload of surgical and medical patients who may require multi-organ support. You will have the opportunity to use your role as an independent prescriber to optimise patient care and will contribute to the development of evidence based clinical guidelines and to multidisciplinary and Pharmacy meetings.

Clinical specialties seen within the busy general Critical Care unit include Hepatology, Renal Medicine, Transplant Medicine, Vascular and General Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Toxicology, Gastrointestinal Medicine and Neurology.

About You
You must have a Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and should have completed or have equivalent competence mapped to the RPS post-registration foundation pharmacist curriculum.

Ideally, candidates will have experience pro-actively influencing prescribing and will have gained experience working in a patient focused environment using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines.
