Senior Electrical Engineer

By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers. This role is the electrical authority across grid connection works, utility-scale solar PV, BESS and data centre power infrastructure in the US, from development through commissioning and handover. You'll own and deliver electrical design and ensure all systems (generation, storage, demand) are designed, installed, tested and energised safely, compliantly and to US requirements. Strong preference for candidates with substantial HV experience. ResponsibilitiesAct as electrical SME across grid, solar, BESS and data centre projects; produce and own electrical designs across the portfolioDeliver detailed design across substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and power distributionDevelop design packages from concept through detailed design: single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection schemes, cable sizing and earthing and bondingSupport grid interconnection works (export and demand), ensure compliance with utility interconnection requirements, ISO/RTO processes, NEC and IEEE standards, and validate or produce supporting studies (fault level, load flow, protection coordination, harmonics)Provide electrical input from development through handover; align design intent with procurement and construction and resolve technical queriesSupport and witness testing, energisation and commissioning; troubleshoot issues and ensure as-builts comply with approved designsSupport technical due diligence and lender advisory; act as escalation point for complex issuesRequirements 5–10+ years of electrical engineering experience in power, utilities, renewables, or critical infrastructure; strong preference for substantial HV experience Proven design background, able to produce and own electrical designs, not only review others' workStrong infrastructure delivery experience across utility-scale solar, BESS, or grid-connected assetsDeep understanding of electrical systems, substations, protection, and power distribution design (generation and demand)Working knowledge of U.S. grid interconnection standards, including utility interconnection requirements, ISO/RTO processes, the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and applicable state and local regulations, with the ability to interpret electrical studies.Commissioning, testing, and energisation experience on HV infrastructure in the contextCritical eye for reviewing consultant and subcontractor designs; strong grasp of safety frameworks including the Electricity Safety Act, state-based electrical licensing requirements, and relevant codes of practiceBenefits Competitive salary and eligibility for equityBiannual bonus schemeFully expensed tech to match your needsPrivate health insuranceBreakfast and dinner allowance for office-based employees As we hire globally, benefits vary by location.
