Programme Support Officer

£26.66k per annum

£26,662 per annum

The role

Are you a proactive, well-organised individual looking for a meaningful role? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Northern Ireland team as a programme support officer, where you'll play a key role in helping households create warmer homes, lower energy bills, and reduce carbon footprints.

You'll be supporting NISEP, an £8 million grant programme that funds energy efficiency and renewable measures for homes and businesses. As programme administrator, Energy Saving Trust ensures this funding reaches those who need it most, on behalf of the Utility Regulator in Northern Ireland.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your programme management skills, gain valuable experience in the Energy Access sector, and contribute to a more sustainable future, while making a real impact on communities.

The team

The Northern Ireland team sit within the Energy Directorate of Energy Saving Trust. In Northern Ireland, our main focus is to deliver the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), but we also are involved in other areas of work and deliver campaigns helping NI householders save energy and money.

There are currently four programme support officers who work very closely to support each other in delivering NISEP and report into the project manager of the team. The team also includes an assistant programme manager and is headed up by the programme manager for NI. The team collaborate with external stakeholders regularly and other teams of Energy Saving Trust.

What you will do

  • Support the efficient delivery of Energy Saving Trust NI’s programmes, ensuring all processes and procedures are followed effectively.

  • Review and assess payment claims, analyse interim reports, and contribute to other essential programme tasks.

  • Work closely with external stakeholders and teams across Energy Saving Trust’s offices.

What you will bring

  • You’ll confidently engage with people at all levels, building positive relationships with NISEP primary bidders and collaborating daily.

  • With strong administrative and numerical skills, you’ll have a keen eye for accuracy and be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

  • You understand the importance of meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and excel at managing multiple tasks efficiently.

For more information, please see the job description

Please submit an anonymised CV and cover letter, removing your name, address, email address, and any other identifying details. Please note, applications submitted without a cover letter may be rejected.

As part of our recruitment process, we conduct background checks on all candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment. The nature of the scheme that we are contracted to work on with Scottish Government means that we are required to comply with UK Government standards when carrying out pre‑employment checks for new starters. This check is known as the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).

BPSS checks include:
• Verification of identity
• Verification of right to work in the UK
• Verification of your previous 3 years of employment history, including periods spent overseas
• A basic criminal record check (DBS), and where relevant, criminal record information from countries where you have lived for significant periods

Information obtained will only be used for the purposes of assessing your suitability for the role. Please note that if successful, any offer of employment made will be conditional pending the successful completion of the BPSS checks. To meet BPSS requirements, candidates must hold valid UK Right to Work documentation. If you have lived or worked overseas, these periods can be verified as long as the relevant evidence can be provided.

More information on the checks can be found here:

Please note that if you are successful, you will be required to complete a basic AccessNI check before commencing employment. The cost of the check (£16) will be reimbursed by Energy Saving Trust.
